How long does it take to learn Thai?
Learning Thai is dependent on multiple factors, such as the learning environment, the amount of exposure to the effort put into practice, and your goals.
If you are immersed in a Thai-speaking environment and have to communicate in Thai daily, you may learn more quickly than someone who is not.
However, with consistent practice, most people can become conversational in Thai within six months to a year. To help you set goals for your Thai language studies, each level of our Thai language courses typically consists of 30 hours of instruction. With regular attendance and practice, you can expect to make significant progress toward your language learning goals within this time frame.
Do I need to learn the Thai script to speak Thai?
No, you do not need to learn the Thai script to speak Thai. However, we highly recommend that you learn the script to help you understand the language and read signs and menus.
Even though it is not required, we strongly encourage students to start learning the script as soon as they proceed to the A2 level. Reading Thai can enhance your overall language understanding and help you progress quickly. It also opens up more opportunities to practice, which can further improve your language skills and can significantly benefit your overall Thai language learning experience.
What level of Thai am I?
If you are above beginner level and want to skip a level, but are unsure which one you are, feel free to set up a 30-minute complimentary session. Here I will determine what level to begin in.
What is the class size?
For a group study, we have a maximum class size of 10 students to ensure individual attention and an interactive learning environment.
What teaching methods are used?
Our Thai language courses use a communicative approach, emphasizing the practical use of the language in real-life situations. We also incorporate stories, and multimedia resources, such as videos and podcasts, to make learning fun and engaging.
Is there any homework assigned?
Yes, homework is assigned in the Thai language courses to reinforce what is learned in class and help students practice independently.
